​How does Pharmacy and Prescriptions work?
  
Prescriptions are based on a formulary approved by the carrier.  There is a prescription for everything. It may not be the brand name, but there always is an appeals process if you and your provider feel it is important for you to have that exact drug.   Keep in mind also that there is a wide variation in drug costs across pharmacies. You may need to log into your carrier's website to see the correct formulary.
