Gregory S. Sailer LUTCF, RHU, REBC, LPRT
Co-Owner/President & Managing Consultant |
There are few people on this earth who profess a passion for group health insurance. Greg Sailer is one of them.
Of course, “group health insurance” wasn’t on Greg’s mind as an undergraduate at Iowa State University in the early 90s. But he did have an interest in helping individuals plan for the future, which is why he chose a career in financial planning. This path opened his eyes to the group insurance market, and it wasn’t long before he realized that was where his strengths could shine.
This realization, combined with a distaste for the corporate financial world—“I grew tired of being told to do or sell something regardless of whether or not it was appropriate for my customer,” he explains—led Greg to establish Achieve Benefit Services in 1997. In 1998, after losing his father, he changed the company’s name to honor a great man.
As president and managing consultant, Greg plays a vital role in helping companies design benefit packages that attract and retain top talent. The chance to make a palpable difference for small business owners and entrepreneurs—whether it’s navigating health insurance reform or promoting a benefit program to employees—is a big part of why Greg has kept at this business for nearly 20 years. It’s also why he’s relentless about staying current on industry changes and pushing issues at the state that matter to his clients. As a past president of the Minnesota Association of Health Underwriters and a member of the Health Partners Broker Advisory Council, he continues to work with legislators to shape the Minnesota marketplace.
Greg’s passions outside of his work include mountain and road biking, golf, downhill and water skiing, and savoring a vintage merlot. All of these, he says, are best enjoyed with the people he loves most: his wife, his kids and his friends. With a heart for kids who struggle with illness, he and his wife support the Minnesota Children’s Hospital and Shriners Hospital for Children.
